The poet is expressing his loneliness in this poem, however, he is continuously saying that he is not really alone since flowers are there fluttering and dancing happily and he is watching them. So he is considering nature as his companion in life.

In the second stanza I think the poet is using an irony by introducing different parts of a gun, especially the time he says:”whose use you will see.” Because the only use of a gun is to kill people, also I think he is making an anecdote with “branches hold in …” to imply the meaning that people are silent and they caot object to the present conditions.
